According to official statistics almost 64% of high school students enroll in colleges or universities each year. Costs of education escalate each year and just tuition fees, room and board would be US$10,000 and more per year in a public institution, and US$25,000 and more in a private one.
So, even before applying for a scholarship, you will need to sit down and think out the finances and what the rules are in the colleges you are considering.

College loans are the most affordable option to pay for school. The two biggest benefits of college loans are:
1. Lower interest rates than other student loans
2. Repayment is postponed until you are out of school.
Mainly there are two types of college loans.

Grants are a type of student aid that is awarded by the government. Grants for college students do not have to be repaid.
Grants are based upon financial need, as calculated by the federal aid program. The first step in applying for government grants is by completing the FAFSA.
Of course every student and parent would rather receive grants instead of loans, since they do not have to be repaid. So the student hopes to see a grant award when the results are returned from the application…
